Partners with Extreme Networks to Deliver Connectivity to Leading College Stadium and Future Home of the Winter Olympics
Boldyn Networks has deployed a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 6E network at the University of Utah’s Rice-Eccles Stadium. Boldyn’s advanced connectivity solutions utilized hardware developed by its partner Extreme Networks and are designed to accommodate the stadium’s full capacity of 53,644, ensuring seamless connectivity for fans, students, faculty, and staff.
Rice-Eccles Stadium is home to the Utah Utes football team, a member of the Big 12 conference. A historic venue from the 2002 Winter Olympics, it is set to become an Olympic stadium once again for the 2034 Winter Games – the new Wi-Fi 6E network will significantly enhance the game-day experience and provide the connectivity needed to deliver world-class events by providing higher speeds, lower latency, and increased capacity of the Wi-Fi network.
The World-Class Wi-Fi Network Includes:
● 1,339 Wi-Fi 6E Access Points (APs): Ensuring comprehensive coverage throughout the venue.
● Wi-Fi 6E Capabilities: Supporting 2.4, 5, and 6GHz unlicensed spectrum for state-of-the-art performance.
● Redundant Internet Circuits: Capable of servicing over 20 Gbps to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.
● Data Analytics: Leveraging technologies similar to those used in NFL stadiums for enhanced operational insights.
“The University of Utah now boasts NFL-level connectivity that will transform the fan experience for both their games and global events like the Olympics. With industry-leading data analytics optimizing back-end operations, the new wireless network at Rice-Eccles Stadium is setting a new standard for how stadiums operate on the global stage,” said Christos Karmis, CEO of Boldyn Networks, US.
The network will support various stadium operations, including entry ticket scanning, food and beverage point of sale, press and media operations, and public access. Additionally, students will benefit from automatic and secure authentication to the network using Eduroam authentication and Wi-Fi Alliance Passpoint® technology, allowing seamless connectivity for visiting students from other institutions.
“We are thrilled to officially announce the completion of this project on our campus. Boldyn Networks is a proven partner and we know our investment will add value to the visitors’ and fans’ game-day experience at Rice-Eccles Stadium,” said Jenn Reed, Associate Vice President of Auxiliary Services at the University of Utah.
“Wi-Fi 6E will dramatically improve both the fan experience and operational efficiency at University of Utah and for the massive events they’ll host at the venue for years to come. The partnership with Boldyn Networks underscores our commitment to modernizing both venues and organizations with technology that delivers stellar performance while driving down operational costs,” said Kevin Wittenbert, Director of Sports and Entertainment at Extreme Networks.
The state-of-the-art network will be supported by a Network Operations Center (NOC) that is monitored 24/7/365. For more information about Boldyn’s world-class venue deployments, please visit www.boldyn.com.
