Wisconsin Lutheran College chooses Boldyn Networks as multi-year campus-wide technology partner

November 13, 2024 | Austin, TX

Wisconsin Lutheran College (WLC), a private college in Milwaukee, WI, has chosen Boldyn Networks (Boldyn), the leading provider of managed network and IT services for higher education in the United States, as its exclusive campus-wide network and IT services provider. This partnership includes its Managed Campus suite of Managed Network, Security, Cloud, Professional, and IT services designed to comprehensively address the needs of higher education institutions.

With more than 25 years of experience serving hundreds of campuses across the US, Boldyn Networks’ higher education business, formerly Apogee Telecom, has the comprehensive and institutional experience to provide the operational scale and technical expertise needed to augment Wisconsin Lutheran’s in-house capabilities, update the decades-old system, and put a plan in place that frees up time for faculty and staff to focus more on what matters most for their students and college community.

“Our approach is to meet colleges where they are and help them strategically get where they're going. Our partnership with WLC will allow them to bring their entire IT organization to a standard where they can begin to innovate for years to come,” said Matt Loecke, Executive Vice President, Higher Education, Boldyn Networks, US. “Our team is embedded in every aspect of the college's IT department. From CIO, IT Director, Systems and Network Administrators plus our 24/7/365 managed IT services, we can immediately address vulnerabilities and provide strategic solutions to help WLC unlock the power of an interconnected future.”

With over 1,100 enrolled students at Wisconsin Lutheran College, where over 600 live on the nationally ranked campus, expectations for ubiquitous connectivity remain high and requests for campus IT support continue to increase every year. In fact, a recent survey by Boldyn found 90% of students want to simultaneously connect at least two devices wherever they are on campus, putting greater demand on the school’s technology infrastructure to meet those expectations.

“Meeting the needs of our students and faculty is paramount to our success as our college seeks to meet the demands of the next generations of students where reliable connectivity is critical to their success. Partnering with Boldyn allows us to make the needed improvements and implement innovative solutions that will allow our campus community to achieve more now, and for years to come,” said Ryan Oertel, Vice President of Operations at Wisconsin Lutheran College.

“It’s key to be successful early on so that students, faculty, and staff can continue to build trust and confidence in the future of technology on campus. We knew there was a lot to get done in a short amount of time. Within six weeks, Boldyn completely overhauled the campus network and built a residential network for students with dedicated per-student bandwidth with reliable, secure connections and personal sign-on portal access. Within 8 weeks we had WLC fully staffed to begin remediation and rebuilding the technology foundation on campus,” said Diane Hoehnke, Chief Financial Officer atWisconsin Lutheran College. “There will certainly be a culture shift on campus, and we know change can be difficult regardless of the industry. When considering what WLC would look like in 10 years, imagining how that would work with our current IT structure was overwhelming. We sought out Boldyn as a trusted leader in IT Managed Services to help right-size our organization and get us in a place where we can continue to be one of the highest-ranked private institutions in the country.”

The partnership with Wisconsin Lutheran College includes management of the entire IT organization on campus, a long-term agreement that positions Boldyn as the campus network provider which includes 24/7/365 support and appoints a Boldyn-designated acting CIO to provide executive services to help the college leadership strategize and plan for the future.
